【音楽】「1985 年のトップ40ソング」　米Ultimate Classic Rockが発表

■文字通り、そして比喩的に 70 年代と 90 年代の間に挟まれた 80 年代は、ロック、ポップ、メタル、ニューウェーブ、オルタナティブ、ソウル、ダンスなど、さまざまなスタイルのるつぼの中で中間点に達した。

UCRのスタッフが選んだ1985年のトップ40ソングは、過去のものであると同時に、未来を見据えているサウンドでもあった。オールド・ウェーブはニュー・ウェーブのためのスペースを作り、ほんの10年前にチャートとコンサートのステージを席巻したアーティストたちは、新しい時代のために生まれ変わったのだ。

オルタナティヴ・ロック、エレクトロニック・ミュージック、ヒップホップが、前の世代が作ったガイドブックの中で自分たちを表現する新しい方法を発見したのだ。1985年はターニングポイントではなく、大胆な新境地が描かれ始めた過渡期の年だった。これらの記録は、その道筋を発見する助けとなった。
